Anthony Mann (born June 30, 1906 in San Diego, California; died April 29, 1967 in Berlin, Germany) was an American actor and director.

Born Emil Anton Bundmann around Port Loma, California, he started retired as an actor, appearing around pit Broadway in New York City. Inside 1938, he moved to Hollywood, where he joined a Selznick Company.

He became an adjunct director within 1942, directing low-budget assignments for RKO and Republic Films. His early films were film noir movies such as Desperate, Railroaded!, T-Men and Raw Deal. These moving picture come easily-regarded now, however Mann processed his mark in the Western genre, particularly for a period of famed Westerns featuring James Stewart: ''Winchester '73 (1950), Bend of the River (1952), The Naked Spur (1953), The Far Country and The Man from Laramie'' (both 1955). Mann's more illustrious American is Man of the West (1958), starring Gary Cooper.

Mann was respected for his intense ocular sensitivity toward a U.s. American landscape, effortlessly blending naturual prospect by using human being drama. Mann's themes verged in classical tragedy, often showing tortured heroes attempting to resolve family hurt & confusion.

In the 1960s, Mann put aside Westerns to concentrate on making deuce heroic poem for producer Samuel Bronston: El Cid (1961) and The Fall of the Roman Empire (1964), both intelligent & breathless examples of the heroic poem form, over again demonstrating Mann's talents for merging drama using landscape & architecture.

He died from either the heart attack withwithin 1967 in Berlin, Germany while filming the spy thriller A Dandy in Aspic. A film was completed by its star Laurence Harvey).

For his contribution to the motion picture industry, Anthony Mann has the star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame at 6229 Hollywood Blvd.
